Interested in running a Stormhold event?

The Barony of Stormhold runs quite a few different type of events. Some are low key and repeat, such as Monthly Bash, and other larger one off events like William Marshal Memorial Event/Feast, or Chess Challenge. Everyone is encouraged to run an event for the Barony’s enjoyment, but there are a few things to start with.

Where to start-

You have had the most brilliant idea for an event. First person to talk about it with is your Baronial Seneschal! They can help you with calendar dates, what they need to see taken to the Baronial Council for approval, what type of event reports they need to see after the event or even as something as simple as finding you a mentor to bounce ideas of what will happen at your event & how to organise things. Don’t forget that an event steward doesn’t do everything to run an event, but has helpful volunteers like cooks, constable, chirurgeon (first aid), area set up, fighting marshals, and arts & science competitions/judging that may or may not be needed, according to the event. There is a template where you can fill out an event bid suitable to take to the Baronial Council-

Second would be your Baronial Reeve. The Reeve can help handle the money, invoicing, bookings (ask first!), and advise of the money taken to help balance the books after the event has been run. The Reeve must have an event report after the event has run, so the SCA can meet its financial responsibilities.

Don’t forget to cc in to the Constable in to the event report too! They also would appreciate the event report for their office.

More complex events do have a more complex report, but the Kingdom itself has some good templates to follow. Go to the Lochac Seneschal’s page about running events.
