Have you considered taking on a leadership role in your community? Do you enjoy theatre? Have you thoughts on who in Stormhold might benefit from recognition? Then this may be the role for you!

Requirements of this office-

Landed Baronages must maintain membership in SCA Ltd. for the duration of Their tenure.

The term of office is not fixed in Law, but custom indicates that it is longer than a standard officer term. The most-recently completed term across all Baronies averaged 3.83 years.

The Baronage of Stormhold is expected to provide a report on the state of the Barony to the Crown annually by May Coronation.

Landed Baronages must swear an oath of office, which includes a promise that you will do all of the following:

* Keep Fealty to the Crown. (Most Peers can help you understand what this means in practice in Lochac.)

* Obey the lawful commands of the Crown

* Faithfully hold and administer the Barony

* Support the members of the Barony in their various endeavours

* Notify the Crown of good works done by members of the Barony

* Treat all with courtesy

Good communication and organisational skills are highly desired, as is the ability to delegate.

The role has a regular public speaking component (which you can develop as you go). Baronage candidates are considered in pairs of people, or single individuals. Excepting the above, the more diverse the candidate pool, the better.

* There are no requirements of gender or sexuality, or of taking the office with your relationship partner.

* There are no requirements to be a Peer to hold this office.

* There are no requirements of participation in SCA combat, or any other SCA activity.

Hello Stormhold! JC here, with a bit of extra information on the role of Baronage to help those who are thinking about whether they put their hand up.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Master JC, how do I know if I have The Right Stuff for Baronage?”. That’s a great question, and I’m glad that you are asking. Here are a select few of the requirements of this office.

Landed Baronages must maintain membership in SCA Ltd. for the duration of Their tenure.

The term of office is not fixed in Law, but custom indicates that it is longer than a standard officer term. The most-recently completed term across all Baronies averaged 3.83 years.

* Notify the Crown of good works done by members of the Barony

* Treat all with courtesy

More details about the role can be obtained by talking to Leif and eleanora, or any previous holders of this office. Some of their names are: Brian and Miriam, Thorolfr and Halla, Hanbal and Ute, and Rodrigo and Sara. You can also look to current or previous holders of other Baronies and they will also have hard-earned wisdom – your neighbours Krae Glas have Jon and Margie, Gilbert and Bethony, and Cormac and Elspeth.

Please do talk to any of them; either with an eye to self-nominating, or even just to establish the criteria by which you will supply your informed opinion in later phases of the process.

A reminder that nominations close on March 6th 2026.

In Service,

Maistre Jean-Christophe le Saussier OP

Greetings to the stalwart lands of Stormhold!

The time has come to begin the process of seeking new Baronial leadership as their Excellencies Leif and eleanora have announced their intention to step down as the Stormhold Baron and Baroness. They will be stepping down an event in August of this year.

I am Maistre Jean-Christophe le Saussier, and the Crown of Lochac has requested that I assist in running the Baronial changeover process. I will be sending regular updates and reminders, running the ‘meet the candidate’ sessions, and then collating the feedback from the polls for Their Majesties along with all commentary.

The first step in this process is to call for candidates!

Have you considered taking on a leadership role in your community? Do you enjoy theatre? Have you thoughts on who in Stormhold might benefit from recognition? Then this may be the role for you!

If you would like to serve your Barony and explore a new aspect of the SCA, please email Their Majesties at crown@lochac.sca.org, and cc myself at stormholdsuccession2026@gmail.com . You will need to include a letter with an introduction about yourself, any details you would like to share about why you are putting your name forward for the role, and any plans or ideas you have. These will be published for the populace to read! Don’t forget to also include your SCA and mundane names, email address, and phone number.

All letters must be sent through by midnight March 6th 2026.

If you are considering putting your name forward, but would like to find out more about what the role entails, Their Excellencies would encourage you to contact them, and I’m certain that Stormhold’s previous B&Bs and Vicars (as well as B&Bs – current and former- from your neighbours in Krae Glas) would be delighted to chat.

Candidate Meet & Greets:

There will be multiple Meet and Greet sessions. These will include in person and online sessions to ensure that all members of Stormhold are able to meet the candidates and ask any questions they may have. Details of these will be posted once they have been confirmed.

Commentary Period:

Commentary will be collected through an online form, with the option to provide a paper survey on request. This will be confidential and accessible by Their Majesties and myself, and will be deleted after the investiture of the successful candidates. The poll link will be published when commentary opens.

If you have any questions or concerns about the process, please reach out to me at stormholdsuccession2026@gmail.com and I will be happy to assist, or can put you in touch with someone who can!

Greetings to the Barony of Stormhold!

A time of change will soon be upon us, as Their Excellencies Leif and Eleanora have announced their intention to step down as Baron and Baroness of your fair Barony.

I am Maistre Jean-Christophe le Saussier, and the Crown has requested that I assist in managing the process of finding successors to the Baronage of Stormhold. In the early part of the New Year, I will be announcing the official timeline and call for nominations/Letters of Intent for candidates to become the next Baron and Baroness; coordinating “Meet and Greet” sessions for those candidates who successfully nominate; as well as running the poll and collating the feedback from the polls that will help guide The Crown in choosing the successors.

If you would like to take on a leadership role in your Barony, please take the time to consider whether you would like to nominate. Their Excellencies are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about what the role of Baronage entails. It never hurts to ask!

Yours in Service to the Crown and Kingdom of Lochac

Maistre Jean-Christophe le Saussier
